I recently received updated photos of the electricity installation at Houay Laou Elementary School, in Pakse, Laos.
During my second visit to the Houay Lao Elementary on October 16 of 2008 to check on the status of the 9th Lao Book Box Library, I was asked for more assistance in the form of monetary donation for the installation of electricity at the school.
Before leaving Pakse, I went back to Houay Laou Elementary and gave $200.00 in cash to the superintendent of the school to pay for pulling electricity lines to the three buildings at the school.
Now, the students will be able to study and read their books in a better condition during a dark and rainy day. It’s also better for the community to hold meetings at the school or host other social functions without having to connect a power cord from someone’s house near the school.
