I was going through my Lao Food photo albums that I took during my two months trip to Laos in 2008 and got a craving for Yum Kai. I can recall how Aunt Tou made the dish for our lunch and tried to replicate her recipe. I didn’t have fresh ginger leaves on hand which would make a lot of difference.

My Yum Kai turned out good enough and it inspired me to plant a pot of ginger on my window in the near future. Maybe I can buy one or two ginger plants from the same nursery that I bought my kaffir lime tree from.
