Waiting for the sun

Waiting for the sun

It is the third morning for me to wake up in Vientiane. There was nothing on the list of things to do today except for waiting for my package from the Netherlands and for more relatives from Savannakhet. Aunt Kian has been calling for the last few days to see when we would go down to Pakse. We had to wait for my package which arrived on Monday but since the name of the receiver was aunt Kian, the post office won’t release it and we had to get a notice from Nai Ban but it was not enough and two more witnesses are needed to sign the pick up form at the post office.

I had khao jie pate for breakfast and checked on the status of the kitchen. The tile floor is completed but there is more work to be done. Later in the morning I watched Sidney while everyone went to the post office. They came back with my goodies that I need to take down to Pakse with me to give to the relatives. I even shipped laundry detergent to myself because I have allergy and very sensitive skin. If I didn’t ship all the things that I needed from soap, shampoo, to facial tissues, I wouldn’t know where to find such things that would be suitable for me. Going to Laos the second time meant more preparation and more precaution after knowing so many people that I know who became ill during their trip to Laos.

We had a nice lunch and I pretty much get to eat what I want or more like what I want to take pictures of. Most of the time the food is for show and I would only taste one bite or two for politeness. Normally most people in Laos only have one or two dishes for a meal and tend to eat left-over dinner for breakfast. But since I am visiting, there are more food on the table.

After lunch it was nap time for Sidney. As for me I was busy packing the rest of my things for a long ride to Pakse the next morning.
