We were getting streams of visitors in the late afternoon at the house wanting news update on Grand-Mama’s funeral. It is a common courtesy to feed your guests in Laos and if nothing else there should be drinks and fruits or candies provided. I went next door to buy some ping kai and Khek went to buy some Beer Lao for our guests.
Aunt Phone asked me what I wanted for dinner and I told her “Pon Pa”. It’s my father’s favorite dish and I like to eat the vegetables and don’t care much for meat so it was a good meal. I wanted to record the making of the dish but was too busy with the guests since I was part of the conversation.
