What do you like to have with your green papaya salad (Tam Maak Hoong; ຕໍາໝາກຫຸ່ງ)? As a little kid living in Vientiane, Laos, I was frequently treated to Tam Maak Hoong served with Grilled Chicken (Ping Kai; ປີ້ງໄກ່), Pork Rind (Kiep Moo; ຂຽບຫມູ), and Soured Pork (Som Moo; ສົ້ມໝູ).
For lunch today, I made myself some green papaya salad with three of my favorite things on the side. It’s not easy to find Som Moo in Holland since it’s imported from Paris, France. I can only find it a few times a year in Chinatown either in Rotterdam or Den Haag (The Hague).
It was a wonderful meal with grilled chicken, warm sticky rice, winged bean, water spinach. I can eat this everyday!
