Tam, Ping, and Som Phak

Lunch in Vientiane, Laos with two different dishes. My cousins wanted to have Tam Maak Hoong (Lao Green Papaya Salad) and Ping (grilled stuff ) for lunch but Aunt Kiane and Aunt Phone were in a mood for something sour like Som Phak Kalampi (Pickled Cabbage). A compromise was made and it was Lao Green Papaya Salad with Khao Poon (Rice Noodles) and grilled chicken wings, hearts, and gizzards for the young people.

For Aunt Kiane and Aunt Phone, they made Ping Pa (Grilled Fish) to go with their homemade Som Pak Kalampi (Pickled Cabbage) and warm sticky rice. No one went hungry and all were happy with their choices for lunch that day.
