I spent my morning taking care of Sidney and later took a walk to Gok Pho Market for a little grocery shopping. I ordered Tam Mak Hoong (Lao Green Papaya Salad) and Tam Khao Poon (Lao Rice Noodle Salad) to take home for lunch. When I arrived home, Aunt Kian was busy re-heating Ping Kai Savannakhet (Savannakhet Grilled Chicken) that she bought during her bus ride back from Pakse.
Ping Kai Savannakhet is quite famous all over Laos, next to Sien Savan or Savannakhet Beef Jerky. I have to say that’s it’s not just a hype. Tam Mak Hoong with Ping Kai Savannakhet is like a marriage made in Savan (Savan means heaven in Lao language).
