Lao Green Papaya Salad (Tam Maak Hoong; ຕໍາໝາກຫຸ່ງ; Tam Som; ຕໍາສົ້ມ), served with Sen Mee Noodles, Fried Sweet Potato, Som Moo, and Kiep Moo for afternoon snack in Pakse, Laos.
Usually, when Tam Maak Hoong is served, there would be various vegetables on a side, a long time friend of Kiep Moo (pork rinds), Sour Pork, or Khao Phoon noodles.
A new trend in Pakse is to eat Sen Mee Noodles and Fried Banana chips or Fried Sweet Potato with Lao Green Papaya Salad. There goes the thought that Sen Mee Noodles should only be shown in a bowl of Feu Noodle Soup, Khua Mee, or Mee Kati.
It’s a bit different than Khao Poon Noodle but I can get use to it. The sweet potato chips helped to calm down the burning sensation from the chili peppers a bit.
