My aunt in Vientiane made steamed tilapia fish (Neung Pa Nin ຫນຶ້ງປານິນ) and chili mango sauce (Jeow Mak Muang ແຈ່ວໝາກມ່ວງ) to go with it. I have never eaten Jeow Mak Muang before and was curious how it would taste.

Lao Food

The spicy mango sauce (Jeow Mak Muang) is made using the same ingredients for a typical Lao dipping sauce with shredded green mango as extra ingredient. It’s a good combination with the steamed tipalia (Neung Pa Nin) and freshly steamed sticky rice.
