When there is a Boun (Lao Festival), there are plenty of food stalls to be found at Wattay Yai Temple in Vientiane, Laos. You can buy grilled chicken (Ping Kai), Khao Larm (sticky rice in bamboo tube), Lao Green Papaya Salad (Tam Maak Hoong), Khao Phiak, Khao Poon, and other Lao food dishes and snacks that are sold during festival times through out the country.
A favorite snack for the young and old is deep fried meatball, served with sweet and sour sauce and sliced cucumber. In recent years, deep fried hot dog (not quite sure what’s in it) also made appearance in Laos to join the classic fried meatball.
My cousins went to Wattay Temple for a religious activity and bought fried meatball and hog dog for snack before dinner.
