We bought a few plates of raw ant eggs at a local market at the outer skirt of Vientiane. I can’t recall the prize per kilo but my relatives all said it was expensive.
My two aunts were happy we found enough red ant eggs to make dinner with plenty of string beans to feed eight people. One of my aunt said if I didn’t pay for the ant eggs, then they wouldn’t be able to afford to eat their favorite dish because it’s too expensive these days to buy the red ant eggs due to high demand and less quantity in the capital city.
