Dinner in Vientiane, Laos with Pon Pa (Spicy Puree of Cooked Fish) and steamed Phak Ehoum and mushrooms. It’s rainy season at the moment so there are plenty of fishes available at the local market for a relatively lower prices than meat. Aunt Kian and Aunt Phone have been busy cooking all sort of dishes using fish as the main ingredients.

When my aunts are not buying fishes, the other relatives would bring fresh catches from Nam Ngum Lake or from other river as gifts during the weekend. Then it’s a gathering feast of Larb Pa or Koy Pa with all the other relatives living on the same street sharing the food and drinks and catching up with one another.
