Pon Pa Douk (ປົ່ນປາດຸກ) or spicy puree of cooked catfish with steamed vegetables for dinner. This is my father’s favorite Lao food dish and he could eat it everyday for lunch or dinner.

He especially likes Pon Pa with plenty of bitter herbs and bitter vegetables, just like all his relatives in southern Laos.

It’s very delicious with either warm sticky rice or steamed Jasmine rice.
