Whenever I go to Laos, I like to visit the local market either out of curiosity or to shop for something to take back to the relatives. There are certain local fruits or vegetables that can’t be found in Vientiane and you can only get them if someone sends it to you or bring it to you. This local market is behind Phonsavan main post office. It looks just like That Luang market that I’ve seen in early 2010 before it was hit by fire.
Next to food and drink, there are other household items that one can by and pharmacy and other shops on the other side of the street. It was the first time for me to be in Phonsavan and I wished I could have seen the market in its earlier stage. I’ve read somewhere about improvements to the market to make it more hygienic with the set up of stalls for the meat and poultry section by an organization.
