Khao Tom Mat

Khao Tom Mat (Steamed sticky rice wrapped in banana leaves with pork and mung bean fillings) for breakfast in Vientiane, Laos. We bought the Khao Tom Mat ( ເຂົ້າຕົ້ມມັດ ) from a grandmother outside Wattay Yai Temple.

I have seen this grandmother since 2008 around Boun (Festival) selling mostly Khao Tom, Khao Larm, and other sweet treats from Wattay Yai to Wat Simuang Temple. It was a delicious breakfast and my two aunts didn’t have to cook anything for the family that morning.

  2. Thanks so much for keeping this blog. I check it at least once a week to see what new dishes you put up. I am a Lao American very far from my mom and miss her cooking greatly!
