Khao Tom Jai Kuay for breakfast in Vientiane, Laos. Aunt Kian came back from Pakse with a handful of left-over Khao Tom from the Alms Offering for Grand-Mama’s funeral. The relatives made plenty of Khao Tom to give to the guests attending the ceremony. The one with Jai Kuay and a little bit of black bean is Aunt Nuan’s version of making Khao Tom. The relatives also made another version with mung bean but there was none left since all the guests were given a small bag of food and candy to take homes as token of appreciation for attending Grand-Mama’s memorial service and funeral ceremony.
I ate a couple of pieces and it was quite delicious. It was not too sweet and there was not too much coconut milk, just the way I like it.
