Sticky Rice and Egg Custard (Khao Sangkhaya Nakhai; ເຂົ້າສັງຂະຫຍາຫນ້າໄຂ່; Khao Niao Sangkhaya; ເຂົ້າໜຽວສັງຂະຫຍາ) for dessert in Vientiane, Laos. This dessert can be a bit time consuming to make but worth the efforts.
As a little kid in Laos, I always preferred Khao Sangkhaya Nakhai made with black sticky rice (Khao Niao Dam; ເຂົ້າໜຽວດຳ) over white sticky rice (Khao Niao; ເຂົ້າໜຽວ).
My mother would make this dessert or sweet two or three times a year on special occasions like Boun (Festival). It was quite a treat to be able to have a serving or two of Khao Sangkhaya Nakhai.
