Kaeng Nor Mai ແກງຫນໍ່ໄມ້ (Lao Bamboo Shoot Soup) and Jeow Padek ແຈ່ວປາແດກ (Spicy Fermented Fish Dipping Sauce) for dinner in Vientiane, Laos. This is the second night in a row to have bamboo shoot soup for dinner.
Since Aunt Kian made the soup last night with no meat or fish in the soup, Aunt Phone made her own version using pork ribs to give the soup more flavor.
While Aunt Phone made the soup, Aunt Kian was busy making another batch of Spicy Fermented Fish Dipping Sauce.
The bamboo shoot soup is always served with freshly cooked sticky rice and some vegetables on the side to dip in the fermented dipping sauce.
