I haven’t been back to Vang Vieng since 2008 so when I went back there last November, I was in a shock with all the changes in the past two years. More of a shock to me was how much more expensive to eat out at the local restaurants.
Nokeo Restaurant is the best place in town for BBQ and grilled fish. This place has been here for ages and always packed with tourists and local people (those can can afford to eat here). My grilled fish was 80,000 Kip which amounts to my daily grocery shopping here in the Netherlands. Of course if you only eat tum mak houng and sticky rice or just a bowl of noodle soup, then it’s a bit cheaper.
