Since I was playing the waiting game for my luggage from Bangkok, I made the best of my time sitting at the restaurant along the Mekong River, watching the boat race and enjoying my early dinner and waiting for the sun to set. What else was there to do but to sit back, take a deep breath, and enjoy the sights and sounds of my motherland.
I have this thing about trying Lao green papaya salad everywhere I go, just to compare the taste from city to city, country to country. This restaurant version of my green papaya salad was not bad at all, if only they didn’t forget to omit the garlic like I asked them too. Let’s just say I had a fun time waking up and scratching myself later that night and woke up the next day with hives all over my body.
