Fried Meatballs or Jeun Louk Sien for an afternoon snack in Vientiane, Laos. They are made from beef and deep fried in hot oil. Jeun Louk Sien makes a great snack or as an appetizer with spicy sweet dipping sauce and sliced cucumber.
As a little kid, I like to eat Jeun Louk Sien at festivals such as Boun Suang Heua (Boat Racing Festival) and Boun That Luang (That Luang Festival). It was always a big treat for my siblings and I when we attended Boun That Luang with our parents. When asked to choose one snack at the festival, our first choice was always Jeun Louk Sien.
