Food after giving alms

Food after giving alms

Today is Boun Ork Phansa, the End of Buddhist Lent Festival through out the country of Laos. My relatives got up early than usual and went to their local temples to give alms to the Buddhist Monks as part of the making merit process. Wat Tay Yai Temple in Vientiane is crowded as always with so many Buddhist faithfuls taking part in the Almsgiving Ceremony.

On the temple ground and outside area, there were plenty of food vendors selling snacks, food and drinks to the temple attendees. After the Almsgiving Ceremony, Aunt Kian bought Khao Poon Nam Jeow and Deep Fried Meatballs home for breakfast. Last year, my two aunts made Mee Kati for lunch and dinner but this year they have no energy for cooking.
