It’s not a secret that I am fond of Lao green papaya salad (Tam Maak Hoong; ຕໍາໝາກຫຸ່ງ). When my planed landed in Vientiane, Laos, with in an hour I was treated to a plate of Tam Maak Hoong by my relatives.

I got an entire plate to myself and with grilled fish (Ping Pa; ປີ້ງປາ), sticky rice (Khao Niao; ເຂົ້າໜຽວ), rice vermicelli (Khao Poon; ເຂົ້າປຸ້ນ), and water spinach (Phak Bong; ຜັກບົ້ງ). It was a good welcoming lunch for me.
