A school for Laos?

Once or twice a week I had to attend a course at a small building next to the Faculty of Social and Behaviour Science. This particular building was added an an extension because of the oversized classes. It is also used for adult learning program. From the outside it reminds me of a school building in Laos but more modern. Whenever I go inside this building I think of the school building project in Laos and how I want to build a school using this model.

Sometimes I would daze off and think I am in Laos because of the sounds of the roosters behind the building. It is next to a garden and the people in the neighborhood would let their chickens run around along with some ducks. I often take my lunch by this big tree and think about Laos and how this building would be so welcome in many Lao villages.

  1. Sabaidee Darly, still remember me right!
I feel so stupid that I’d just find out about your webbsite right here today, all along I’have check out Laovoices. Again congratulation for finishing your degree , my head is off to you, I must say that you must have been a very dedicated person, because I am very lousy about study, but I love to read about Lao History’s. The school pictures model above looked very simple to build, if we do frame and siding, it could be done real faster than brick, because I use to be a superintendant for the Architect for a year, ofcourse we need all the right tools. I do feel attached to the poor people of Laos, especially school kids and I think we both have a lot of things in common. I do have a lot of stupid questions to ask, but I’m afraid you get tire to answer, but I will just ask one for now Ha..Ha..      I ‘have seen all the great pictures you have shown in Holland or in Laos, but is there any of your pictures in there some where?

  2. Sabaidee Ai Sirivanh,

Thank you for stopping by my homepage. What we need first is budget for education in Laos. It’s a good thing that the Japanese NGOs are working in Laos to build schools, libraries, and supporting health projects. Progress is being made slowly but usually it is in a notable town like Luang Prabang for example. It’s good that you want to do so much for Laos, any help is good but please don’t feel like you have to carry the burden all alone.

My pictures are somewhere here, the first one I found is in this post.
