All good things must come to an end and so it was time to take the last few steps toward the gate near closing time. No more tulips at Keukenhof garden until next spring!

Having spent enough time with the lilies, it was time to go outside and get some fresh air by the windmill. Normally this would be a stunning view of the tulip fields in full bloom in the month of April. Now they have all been harvested and I have to wait until next spring to visit the fields again. I’m thinking about a bike ride along the tulip fields and making a few stops along the way to take photos.

On the other side of the garden wall is the Oranje Nassau Pavilion. I have never been inside this particular building and found out this year there is internet access for visitors to Keukenhof. Who wants to be surfing when you are surrounded by thousands and thousands of tulips!

After a short break at the water fountain, it was time to check out the garden area. This is usually the place that I often didn’t pay attention to since it was never much of anything to look at in April. But in May the spot is full of interesting plants and flowers. It was like finding a treasure when I noticed beautiful blooms that reminded me so much of Dok Koon. It was no other than the purple laburnum and what a beautiful sight to see.

Beyond the lake area was walking path with plenty of tulips and other flowers to keep me busy. It was late in the afternoon and tea time for me but the restaurants were so busy that I went for a bottle of water and then headed off in the direction of a garden area near Oranje Nassau Pavilion.
After having taken enough photos of tulips and other flowers near the Keukenhof entrance area, it was time to followed the path of 2000 with a walk toward the lake. What I found to be interesting in this area is the walking path over the water. Kids and adults all like to take turn walking toward the other side and taking photos along the way.

Walking on water at Keukenhof
On May 21, 2009 I made a visit to Keukenhof (Kitchen Garden) to see what’s left of the tulips. It was the last day and there were so many people there to enjoy the nice weather and the various flowers on display at the garden. I have to admit the garden was not as spectacular as the last visit in April of 2007. The best time to visit Keukenhof is around mid April to late April to see the tulips in full bloom.

After making a stop over Buenos Aires, Matt Lauer and team flew straight to the land of tulips and cheese and spent their second day in Amsterdam. Check out the videos below and you just might learn something new about the Netherlands.
