I was very happy to have found the beautiful blooming late tulips along the walking path of Noorderhaven. They are called “Late Blooming Tulips” because they will bloom in the late spring and are also refered to as Cottage Tulips.

Easter Sunday Walk

Author: DJ
April 6, 2010

The weather was not that warm on Easter Sunday with a bit of shower on and off. But by 19:00 hour the sun was bright and shinny as it was setting in for the night. I went for an hour walk before dinner and took photos along the way.

Another set of photos that I took along the walking path by the canal on March 18, 2010. The best part of that day was running into gigantic but extremely friendly dogs. I wouldn’t mind having them as pets.

I love walking in the Netherlands, especially around this time of the year. I’ve been looking forward to see narcissus flowers and water lily for quite awhile now and not to mention the annual trip to Keukenhof Garden for tulips and orchids.

There were plenty of beauties to keep me busy on March 18, 2010. Some of the narcissus were blooming while others are getting ready to show off their spring blossoms. I have to go back to this area again next week to see what kind of narcissus flower will be blooming since I can’t remember the type from the previous spring.

Yellow Flowering Shrub

This is what I find a couple of weeks before Lao New Year or Boun Pee Mai Lao each year. The bright happy yellow color would remind me Boun Pee Mai Lao is coming up. This particular shrub that I am not able to identify its name yet reminds me of Dok Koon in Laos. It also has this intoxicating smell that would give me a headache after a few minutes of being near the flowers. I will have to check and see if we can plant this in Laos. It would make a nice addition to my aunt’s yard.

Pink Cherry Blossom

April 22, 2009

The pink cherry blossom were in full bloom, standing side by sides with their neighboring trees. These pink cherry blossoms remind me of cotton candy at the State Fair. Since I live in a tiny apartment with no garden, it is refreshing to be out in the open space and enjoying a sunny day with the birds and the bees. Then I come back home with a major headache. Yes, allergy season is here and more suffering to go with the enjoyment of life.

Lunch and a walk at a park

I had my usual salmon sandwich and green lemon tea for lunch last Tuesday (April 07, 2009) and then went for a walk at a park afterward. It is a great way to digest the food and also to get used to my recently bought Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28. I had the camera since February and still trying to get comfortable with it. It was such a nice day to stroll around and take lots of pictures of beautiful cherry blossom in full bloom. I was too busy last year and missed the blooming cheery trees around this time of the year.
