25th SEA Games Medals Updated News for December 10, 2009 on Lao Star Channel.

I woke up at 11:00 AM today so I can catch the football match between Laos and Singapore at 11:45 hour (17:45 hour Lao time) on Lao Star Channel. I’ve been missing the morning events for a couple of days now due to sleeping late and getting up late.

Well, you can’t blame me since I am on my one month vacation and can sleep as late as noon if I wanted to. I didn’t make the usual tum maak houng for lunch today but instead made a pot of Fer (Pho) for lunch and later dinner.

There was more action in the first half of the game than the second half with both Laos and Singapore playing it safe. I didn’t mind and was just enjoying the game and a hot bow of Fer knowing both Laos and Singapore will be advancing to the Semi-Finals round.

Additional recorded clips of the 25th SEA Games Opening Ceremony which took place in Vientiane, Laos this evening.

When the Khene was playing and the dancers were doing Lum Vong, I was up on my feet and was doing the Lum Vong too. I felt so proud and happy for Laos to be the host of this year’s SEA Games, especially being the 50th Anniversary of the game. I was experiencing a “choking on happiness” moment and had to fight off my tears. If you know the Lao saying of “Dee Jai Jon Namtha Lai” then you’ll understand what I am talking about.

I had my alarm set for 10:00 AM today so I could catch the opening ceremony of the 25th SEA Games by 11:45 AM. It was a spectacular show and I am blessed to be able to catch the live broadcast on Lao Star Channel.

This is as good as it get to being in Laos and I made Lao green papaya salad for lunch and ordered BBQ ribs to go with it. It’s the first time for me this year to have BBQ ribs and probably the last for 2009.
