Sweet Treat for Buddhist Lent

Sweet Treat for Buddhist Lent

Today is day of Buddhist Lent ( Boun Khao Phansa ). Many of my relatives in Laos have been preparing Khao Thom (sweet sticky rice wrapped in banana leaft) and Khao Nom Naep (sweet treat with flour and coconut filling) to take to the temple for offering to the Buddhist monks.

For those that are too busy with work or study, they would buy already prepared food and sweet treats for offering at their local temple. When it comes to merit making, you do it from your heart and the best that you can without putting too much burden on yourself. After all, in Buddhism it’s all about doing things in balance for a peace and harmony in life.
