I wanted to know how to make Or Lam (ເອາະຫຼາມ; เอาะหลาม; Lao stew) so I asked my two aunts in Vientiane to show me how to make it.
One of my aunts said there is no fixed recipe for making Or Lam and one can adjust the vegetables and mushrooms depending on what’s available during the season.
I made a short video clip of how to make Or Lam by my aunt to get an idea on how to make the stew.
When were making Or Lam for dinner that night, they had no Phak Tam Nin and Black Fungus Mushroom in the house and had to be flexible with the ingredients.
