While walking near the canal last Friday, I saw several rabbits running along the path. As I got closer they went into the hiding behind the colorful bushes (third photo). I didn’t want to disturb them and went on my way along many holes that must have been created by my new shy friends. It was a nice surprise to see a such small area is home to so many of the rabbits. I counted 11 of them as they ran for cover.

After dinner at Hoek van Holland Beach, it was time to witness a humble sunset at 22:05 hour. There was something about this sunset though that I found soothing to watch. It was a quiet and peaceful scene and I felt almost like I was the only one there witnessing another day turning into another night.
I was running in and out of the restaurant at Hoek van Holland Beach so I can catch the cool breeze and the salty smell of the ocean. Let’s just day my dinner was getting cold after awhile, well only the French fries at least.
I was spending an evening at Hoek van Hollan Beach after the World Cup Football Match between Brazil and the Netherlands. It was such a warm day and people were packing the beaches all over the country. When the football madness was over they sky opened up and pour down on all of us. It was a welcoming cool down and a first experience for me to be raining down on at the beach.
Sunshine by Ginger Ninja is the song that I will remember for this summer. This song was used as background music by the Dutch public broadcasting network NOS for the football matches compilation of the Dutch National Football Team (the Oranje) during the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
Ginger Ninja – Sunshine Lyrics
We were lost in the dark but we’ve opened the door
We were frighten ’cause this thing never happened before
There’s a fear making noise in back of your head
But there’s no need to be afraid, crawl back in my bed
Get in line for the sunshine (4x)
Calm down and get in ’cause we’re ready to go
there’s no point in holding back, ’cause it’s out of control
Is it brown? Is it blue? Is it black? Is it dead?
Don’t you worry ’bout a thing crawl back in my bed
Get in line for the sunshine

Viva Hollandia World Cup 2010 South Africa
De tijd is weer gekomen, tijd voor een groot feest.
Dat wil je echt niet missen, hier moet je zijn geweest.
Samen heffen wij t glas, een ode aan t bier.
We proosten op een leven vol plezier, feesten doen we hier
It was football madness over here last night as Oranje fans gathered around the country to cheer the Dutch team in the Semi-Final match against Uruguay. I can’t describe the feelings into words but you’ll get the idea of the entire country on such high emotional state from the video clips below.
From Amsterdam at Museumplien – Viva Hollandia
As usual my FB status for yesterday was “Let’s go Oranje” to show my support for the Dutch national football team. If you didn’t notice it already, I rotated my cheer from match to match. Last match was “Hup Holland Hup” and will be again at the World Cup Final.
The match between the Netherlands and Uruguay was so exciting and the Oranje kept my heart pounding to the last seconds, especially the last three minutes. It felt like half an hour for me waiting anxiously for the final whistle to blow. I breathed a sight of relief when the match was finally over with Netherlands 3:2 Uruguay on the scoreboard.
Check out the clips below of the goals highlights and interview of the Dutch players.

I made Laap Beef or Lao minced meat salad for dinner. It was a perfect meal to go with World Cup Football match. Laap beef is not my favorite Lao food dish but I can eat it a few times a year.
Rotterdam has been preparing for Tour de France 2010. The 97th Tour de France is Saturday July 3rd to Sunday July 25th 2010 with grand start in the biggest port of Europe, Rotterdam. The city spent 12 million Euros for this event and the former mayor of Rotterdam saw it as a marketing strategy for the city. I like watching Tour de France mostly for the opportunity to see the beautiful landscapes along the racing path.

Tour de France 2010 Grand Start – Rotterdam
Video description: The choice of Rotterdam, a vast urban centre with one million two hundred thousand inhabitants, is directly in keeping with the special start of the Tour in London in 2007. The proposed project Rotterdam and the Tour, a new energy seduced us. It fits into an overall policy that aims to an even bigger place for the bicycle in the citys heart, while leaning on the popularity of the biggest cycling race in the world, the Tour de France. From the banks of the Thames to the biggest port in Europe: the same desire, the same will.
